Sore Loser Award

In the aftermath of the 2006 bloodbath, defeated New York Republican John Sweeney couldn't even get out of bed, he was so heartbroken and physically ill from the trauma of loss. This season's Sweeney is Colorado's Marilyn Musgrave, a grim-tempered right-winger known for pimping the Federal Marriage Amendment and mustering righteous outrage over Terri Schiavo:

Musgrave, a Republican who’s been representing Colorado’s 4th District since 2002, became part of the Republican Casualty List when she lost in a landslide, even after the National Republican Congressional Committee doled out almost a million bucks (reportedly $900,000) for her campaign.
Two weeks after the brutal loss, Musgrave still hasn’t called her opponent to concede or to congratulate the victor, as is not only textbook but also mannerly to do. Moreover, Musgrave’s ill manners bleed into her own team. Rumor has it she still — 14 days later — hasn’t even thanked her campaign staff. (Again, textbook.)

But curiously, more rumors abound that no one has seen or talked to Musgrave since the brutal loss; she’s all but disappeared. (emphasis mine)

No one has seen or talked to her? Shouldn't this be potentially alarming? What if NRCC chief Tom Cole murdered her in a fit of bitterness over that wasted $900,000?

This definitely merits further investigation.  Has anyone checked on the whereabouts of the guy that stole several hundred thousand from the NRCC?  We could be looking at a serial killer here.

That's right.  And crowley, fairbanks, and the rest of the gaggle aren't "sore winners" (ignoring the fact that you never won anything, much like fans of sports teams don't "win" when they win.)

Instead of focusing on whether or not she's kissed her opponent's ass, why don't you focus on more productive articles like what "change" does obama exactly have in store for America.  Am I going to get a new six-pack of abs for Christmas? Is my mechanic going to stop robbing me now that he's president? Out with it, what "change" is there going to be exactly? I think the public has a right to know.  At least 48% of us who voted for the other guy would like to know, instead of just"taking your word that you have the "greater good" in mind.

Good for Tom, then.  Every word that abonimation of subhuman flesh uttered coursed through my veins like spider venom, even when--especially when--she was trying to sound sincere.  Any words of gratitude or concession she could have given would only have salted the wounds.  I think it was very right of who ever has offed her to strike when he/she/it did.

JWL: how to break it to you, let me see ...

OBAMA IS NOT PRESIDENT YET.

And it's 46% who voted for "the other guy".

Your mechanic will continue to rob you, if he already does, because you're stupid and you keep going back to him even though he is robbing you, not because of who is in the White House.  And you're extra eight pounds will still be there because, as you have admitted already, you have no idea how to eat properly; so don't blame your absence of abs on Obama.

Isn't it just like fucking honky?  For eight long years Bush buggers the US dry, and there is nary a complaint; a black buy becomes President, and this oik expects new abs for Christmas, a month before Obama is sworn in.  As I thought: if Obama walks on water, JWL will be there complaining that he can't swim.

jw-   Easy.  Lay off the coffee, guy.

I can tell you that I "won".  Winning to me is not feeling as frustrated and angry as you obviously do right now.  I've been feeling that the last few years.  Its no good.

well, 46% has in two weeks and usually that old GOP magic, turned into 48% percent. Now I know why Bush and his voters thought 49% and 51% were "mandates"...

Yessir!  You sure are!  They're on their way!

Reading this after the Plank post about Bushies sliding into permanent civil-service jobs, I suggest we be thankful that this person appears to have chosen to skedaddle quickly.  There are worse things that could happen.

I don't think she's "been done something with" [to use a cherished phrase of my friend's mom]. I would like someone to hunt her down and see what she's up to, though. Because I think she's up to no good.

John Sweeney was my Congressman. If he couldn't get out of bed, it's because he was drunk as a skunk and couldn't put one foot in front of the other. A disgrace to the office.

Stop making demands, loser. You'll know when you know. And then you'll come over here and lie about it.

Wow, poor jwl2672 can't even wait until the guy is president before letting rip with the "concerned citizen" act.  I have a bad feeling that one of my primary complaints against Obama in 2012 will be that he didn't screw over guys like this enough.

The last two elections have indeed been delicious for us libs, all the more so when we can remember how the right rubbed salt in our wounds back in 2004. Who can forget Limbaugh smirking as he offered "free menatl therapy" to all defeated Kerry supporters, or the cheering at thei friring of Dan Rather, or hearing Bush talk about how he then had "political collateral", and how he intended to "spend it"? They had it all, the White House, both houses of Congress, pending Supreme Court nominations, and Karl Rove's promise of a "generation of GOP hegemony". Their hard fall since then has not only been steep, its been incredibly fast, and it couldn't have happen to a cruddier bunch of people. Musgrave is the pinup girl for it all.

A shallow piece followed by fifteen even more shallow comments.  The internet and blogging is generally a wonderful development; the problem is that most commenters hide behind noms de plume.  If they had to identify themselves, the substance of their views might not change a lot, but they would edit the "flavor" of their emotions.  Who knows, maybe they would impose the old test:  how would I like to see what I have just written, as I have written it, under my name, on page one of the New York Times?   I have a generally high regard for the quality of the dialogue on this site; it could be even better if those of us who mask their identities disciplined themselves a tad as if they had to sign their name.  Who knows, we might occasionally learn something from each other?

I think depth can be over-valued.  One needs the shallow occasionally.
