My Bad

Yglesias exposes the folly of my speculation about Palin's appeal in Maine's second district (which, I hasten to add, was largely based on the comments of a local polisci professor I heard on the radio). But I have no regrets: It was a colorful storyline and the possibility that Maine's moose hunters could have decided a (once-possible) close election was just too amazing to ignore.

Can I please take this opportunity to crow?  (I'm also glad that I won't actually have to pony up on my bet.)  I don't think Maine has ever split its electoral votes, and Maine has been too economically hard-hit of late to be distracted by the Palins' smoke and mirrors.

On a side note, our local Obama campaign coordinator read my comments about Maine-2, but didn't know it was me at the time.  So, if you're reading this, Hi, Jonathan!  Strong work!

It would be a colorful storyline if you said Illinois Deer Hunters would somehow flip Obama's home state. The question becomes why is it worth our while?
