Harmonic Convergence

Republicans in Michigan's bellwether Macomb Country plan to rely on home foreclosure lists to deny voter eligibility. The tactic is likely to disproportionately affect African-Americans.

So does this mean if you own 7 homes (like McCain) you can vote 7 times in all those different states?!  Gee whiz, it's 1800 and votiing is tied to property ownership again!

Another heart-warming tale of Republicans gaming the system to their own benefit while making every effort to make sure the system remains open to being gamed.

Ugh.  Whew.  I feel awful.

Thankfully, now that I've read this article, I know what to recommend to induce vomiting if parents don't have Ipecac around.

Now that's putting country first.

It's Rove's ground war all over again. He's betting there's just a shade more Conservatives out there than normal people. I reckon he's right. I have a theory that a lot of those registered Independents are no such thing. It's much cooler to be an Independent isn't it? You're not tied to party ideology or group think. Rove doesn't think you can win in the center, simply because there is none in the States. He could make a killing doing ad's for Blackberry.

Leave it to the Repugs to make damn sure that you know when they sing "This Is My Country," they really mean "it's not your country."  An entire party based solely on hatred and exclusion.  This is what our soldiers are dying for in Iraq?  This is the American way?

By the way, any 527 that wants to start putting this into ads and tying it to anybody Republican should feel free...

Genuinely revolting.  I always sort of wondered what Republicans told themselves to rationalize sending out guys to challenge citizens' right to vote.  I figured that they had convinced themselves there was massive voter fraud and that they were really just making sure that it was one person, one vote (pretty flimsy given the actual realities of voter fraud, but at least they could sleep at night).  But this is just so low that I don't know how these guys can look themselves in the mirror.  What story do they tell themselves that makes them feel like something other than complete slime?

Is this even legal?

Legal?  Maybe.  Stupid?  Definitely.

Obama can and should make a tv ad out of this.  He just has to air it a few times in Michigan or maybe not even that, just put it up on the web.  The local news in MI will pick it up and run with it.

To be sure, these local goons aren't John McCain, but they are Republicans and they're doing McCain's dirty work.  At the very least making this sort of state and local level Mugabeism a campaign issue might encourage the national organization to tell the little guys to cool it.
