Hmmm, Petraeus doesn't look like he's been telling Obama he's a defeatmonger.

Are we having another caption contest?

Petraeus: "...but then McCain said, 'I remember when this place used to be called Sumeria'! Ha ha ha!"

Obama: "It's funny because it's true!"

By the standards of the press, this now means that Petraeus is now a candidate to be Obama's veep. Encouraging to see, nonetheless.

Obama: "And THEN I said we could be out of here in 16 months!"

Petraeus: "...and they BELIEVED you???"

Obama: "Oh boy, did they ever!"

Hagel (thinking) "What are they talking about?  Man, I wish my headset was on the same channel!"

Good grief Rozen!  Brilliant! Can you imagine? Unfortunately, there's talk Patreus has his own political ambitions which would make this difficult unless he changed parties...

It just occurs to me that the suffix "monger" is usually only used with the prefixes "fish," "war," and "whore." WHich is kind of an odd threesome.

Dbhuff -- not necessarily . . . part of the potential Petraeus appeal would be the fact that he's (supposedly) a Republican, which is supposed to show that Obama loves everyone and everyone can love him. Makes about as much sense as having Chuck Hagel on the ticket, if you ask me.

Caption: Obama Iraqs the vote with Gen. Petraeus and Sen. Hagel.  (It was inevitable, I'm just getting it out of the way...)

benjamen, very funny. Is that yours or did you cop it?

Well, some late nioght comic made a joke about McCain remembering Iraq as Mesopotamia, but that's what it was called not only in ancient times but also when it was briefly a British mandate in the '20s. Sumeria, I think, is much funnier. So it's mine as much as any humor can be.

I actually don't think "McCain is so old" is fruitful ground for comedy, but it's all we've got. I almost feel bad for the Republicans - it's even harder to make fun of Obama.

Is there any proof that he's a Republican.  The evidence: he's smart, flexible and competent - I say he's most likely a Democrat.

Agreed, ben. Any time you can work "Sumeria" into a joke, it's pretty much a done deal.

Also, is a vice cop a mongermonger?

I'm not entirely sure that when talking about mongers and republicans we can leave "fear-monger" out of the list.

One can only imagine the anticipatory excitement and relief in the minds of our military commanders, as they entertain the prospect of no longer having to take orders from a booger eating moron like George W. Cretin.

You think Petraeus, a very smart and astute man, is going to sit around looking petulant around his possibly next commander in chief?

Yeah, Chan, especially when he'll be in Tampa in a few months, not in Baghdad.

Big problem, butch. Every time we get people who have learned the ground, we ship them back to the Pentagon. We're still rotating some people far too much.
