How Jesse Made Barack

Dan Balz on Jackson as Souljah, with a helpful reminder that Jesse's been doing Obama favors for a long time now:

Jackson's demand for proportional distribution of delegates turned out to be Obama's secret weapon in his race against Hillary Clinton.

P.S. Few have mentioned the touchy undercurrent to this story, which is that Jackson has a very personal reason to recoil from 'lectures' on fatherhood. Might help explain the coarseness of his anger.

Few have mentioned it, Michael, because doing that sort of thing makes most people want to take a shower. All prescient forward-positioning of "secret weapons" aside, Obama looks good as "not Jessie Jackson". It's enough to bring out the lynch-mob instincts in any entrenched special interest capo.

When I read the headline, I expected, for some unkown reason, that it was referring to Helms, not Jackson.  Now, how Jesse Helms made Barack would really be quite a story, but not entirely impossible to imagine.
