Quote of the Day

Fresh release from the Clinton campaign:

"I am honored to have Ricky Martin's support," said Senator Clinton. "In addition to his great talent, Ricky is committed to improving the world through his philanthropic work, and I am grateful for his support. He is a very important voice in the Latino community and together we will work to improve the lives of families and children across the country."

Well, that should sew up the closeted homosexual one-hit-wonder vote.

When asked why he is supporting Sen. Clinton, Mr. Martin replied "cause she bangs."

In response, the Obama campaign issued a statment: "It is fitting Ricky Martin is supporting Sen. Clinton. After all, her campaign is 'living la vida loca.'"

Martin endorses Clinton in a meaningless primary in a territory that can't vote in November.

This reminds me of visiting a hooker at her hotel room off Union Square after neglecting to take any Viagra or Cialis and exhausted from little sleep the previous night. We didn't click. Little Willie decided to sit this one out.

She was a nice gal, completely as advertised--no bait and switch--so I paid without protest. We did spend some time together, mostly talking about politics, if I recall.

Hopefully everyone from the mainland who rushes to Puerto Rico for the primary before rushing away again will get some quality beach time, maybe enjoy a nice meal or two.

Dr Dan:  Looking closely at his sash, I was surprised  to see that Ricky wasn't King/Queen of a differently themed parade

Hillarious Michael, and not a whiff of homophobia.  Interestingly, gay rights is the only area Andrew Sullivan makes any criticism of Obama.  To paraphrase Britney Spears, Hillary's campaign is too butch, now it's too gay.

(Doc, wasn't Martin a two hit wonder?   Complete tangent but remember "Brandy" by the Looking Glass?  They had a follow-up, "Jimmy Loves Mary Ann" which stayed on the top-40 chart forever but could never get above 30 or somesuch.)

It is a measure of train Hillary, at a dead stop on the tracks, that she trumpets the support of Ricky Martin. Coming next, a prominent aging cowboy from Montana will make a high profile endorsement of her before the June 3 primary in Montana. why? Because she bucks.

I guess Ricky went with "She'll make you go insane" instead of "Skin's the color mocha."

Once the Democratic party's "had a taste of her," will we "never be the same?"

(Why do I remember lyrics to bad songs I didn't even like?)

lymon, if you're referring to "She Bangs," I suppose technically you're correct.  But it was such an obvious reheat of "Livin' La Vida Overplayed," that I don't think it should count.

And dubya, you don't get to wear a sash in those "other" parades unless you're willing to admit you belong there in the first place.  We're picky that way.

"Who is Ricky Martin?"

I think he was Ozzie and Harriet's son.

Dunno drdannyu, it seems to me that by sporting that beard AND the sash, he's effectively coming out.

I thought there was a ballad that followed "Loca" -- could be mistaken.  I'm more partial to Pansy Division myself.

Who is Ricky Martin? My word, he was the toothsome feller who sang at The Decider's 2st Inaguaral Ball, which was shortly after "Livin' La Vida Loca" started to drop off the charts...

I wonder if The Decider had any clue that Mr. Bon Bon was playin' on the other team, and I ain't talkin' about the Democrats...

Pick up a People every now and then to diversify your worldview...

lymon, there was a ballad, a treacle one for sure but hey, it was catchy and I sorta liked it.

Oh yeah, Jay-Z the Anointed One's supporter is so much better. Maybe he'll teach everyone how to be gangster. He sings about it with gusto.
