Impeachment, Part II

Campaigning in Florida today, Hillary lamented that voters there were "punished" when the DNC stripped the state's delegates. She also added: "I say that not counting Florida and Michigan is changing a central governing rule of this country."

This is one of the clearest data points yet for my argument that the Clintons believe they're being impeached all over again. Bill and Hillary felt impeachment was nothing less than an illegal coup attempt. Now Hillary seems to be arguing more directly than ever that democracy has been subverted to take the nomination from her.

Of course, the Florida/Michigan delegate-stripping was a self-inflicted wound, since it was the Clintonites who first insisted on it. So the impeachment analogy doesn't hold up.

Well, maybe it doesn't hold up.

Much as I enjoy the comments of Roid and Rhubarbs (and others) I would like to propose a natiional day of silence about Hillary.  How about no TNR Hillary blogs and no TNR Hillary comments?  A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Okay.  I'll play.  I am going to refrain from saying anything at all about or referring to Senator Clinton, of New York, until some time next week.  Sounds like fun.

edhenig,

That's a good idea.

So.

[whistles]

[clears throat]

[looks at watch]

Whoa, it sure was windy this morning!

[laughs nervously]

[drums fingers on desk]

How 'bout those Tampa Bay Rays, huh? Eight above .500, this late in the season. And the Padres! What a collapse!

[looks down at fingers, flicks randomly at cuticle]

Well, then.

[coughs quietly]

Say, anybody know how that assessor's race in Nebraska is shaping up?

[waits]

Anybody?

[waits]

[looks at phone]

Wow, edhenig, this is harder than it looks.

[loosens collar]

I'm...I'm dyin' here...

Okay. Look, I didn't sign anything, alright? Nothing to prevent me from writing something...anything..about...about...HILLARY CLINTON.  There! I said her name! Happy now??? Hillary-Hillary-Hillary-Hillary-Hillary!!!!

[breathing heavily, williamyard pulls hankie from rear pocket and sops up sweat oozing from forehead]

Jeez, I mean, give us a little warning next time, will ya? We just gotta get prepared, is all.

[aside] What kind of a sicko comes up with "no TNR Hillary blogs and no TNR Hillary comments"?

[to edhenig] I know what you're thinking, but you're wrong: I can quit anytime I want.

edhenig, I admire your sentiment, but really do you want to remain silent in the face of evil? She said she would leave her name on the Michigan ballot since "it didn't count anyway" with her writing the rules to make sure they didn't count and for her to now state that these votes to Barack's zero is the determining factor in her getting the nomination is simply evil.

A few days ago I might have agreed that a Hillary moratorium would be a good thing. But now that she's putting her bogus Florida/Michigan argument into overdrive -- and saying that she's prepared to go all the way to the convention -- I don't think this is the time to shut up and hope that she disappears. That would be a form of -- I'm not sure of the exact word -- um, appeasement (?).

The fact that Hillary is trying to wipe her ass with the Rules for Delegate Selection, which was prepared well before MI and FL screwed the pooch, and to which she knew she would be held accountable if anything should arise, should scare and/or anger a lot more people than it has.

I find it incredibly disappointing that she finds it so difficult to play within the rules.

Actually, I'm leaving for five days in Paris in about 15 minutes which is why I won't have anything to say, but I thought I'd look a sport.  I think BHLnyc has the better argument.

Mike, you've got it right. The Clintons' depth of resentment and bitterness about the impeachment ordeal has transformed into Nixonian paranoia. I wouldn't have believed it, but there it is. I really thought they had more sophistication and class to not get sucked into the vortex. Too bad. I liked the Clintons a lot but they are different critters now than they were in their salad days.

It's gotten to the point where real therapy strategies need to be employed.  Everyone really should realize that she feels rewarded when she exhibits this negative and irrational behavior and everyone starts chatting here up.  She gets headlines in papers, sound bites on TV, etc., etc.  We really need to start completely ignoring her, media included, when she does this sort of thing, and then reward positive behavior - just like dealing with an acting out teenager.

Tomeg: Good point. But also, there is (or almost is) a Nixonian paranoia about Hillary by any number of posters on this website. What will they do when they don't have Hillary to kick around any more?

Are you kidding?! Of course she'll  ble blamed for everything. God forbid Obama lose the presidency in November. You'll see every one of the Obamistas today blaming Hillary for it.

Now imagine Obama actually wins the presidency. Every president has ups and downs. Hillary, then presumably in the US senate, will be blamed by paranoid Obamistas for any fuck-up of his. Just look at how they talk now.
