McCain Consolidating the Right?

Not entirely, not yet. James Dobson tells the WSJ:

"I have seen no evidence that Sen. McCain is successfully unifying the Republican Party or drawing conservatives into his fold. To the contrary, he seems intent on driving them away.

Dobson wrote:

"Those stances, plus Sen. McCain's discussion of global warming and his push to outlaw torture and shut down the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have "frustrated" conservatives "whom McCain seems to have written off," Mr. Dobson said."

This is a preacher, and yet he supports torture! How in the world does he justify this? More so, how do supposed God-fearing people in his congregation go along with something as amoral as this? What a world we live in, I tell ya. Obama's preacher is raked over the coals for criticizing American foreign policies (which, by the way, the 9/11 Commission concurred) yet people like Dobson blamed American homosexual citizens for 9/11. The hypocrisy and double-standards are enough to induce a thousand headaches for anyone trying to make sense of such lunacy.

@kevincollins: Well, McCain is not a member of Dobson's flock (does Dobson have one?), get married/baptized/etc. by Dobson, so it's not apples to apples.

But your basic premise that Dobson is way worse than Wright is sensible to me.
