Soros for Obama?

That's the practical implication, at least, of this:

Gov. Edward G. Rendell of Pennsylvania and Gov. Jon S. Corzine of New Jersey, Clinton supporters, are trying to line up money to pay for a Michigan revote. Mr. Rendell called the financier George Soros, a Democratic donor, on Monday and asked him to help pay for a revote.

Mr. Soros, who has contributed to Mr. Obama but has no formal campaign role, refused, a spokesman, Michael Vachon said, adding, “George Soros does not support holding another primary in Michigan, because he believes doing so will further delay the selection of a Democratic candidate for November.”

Soros has weilded lots of money/power in lobbying for very left causes.  He is a major contributor to MoveOn.org. MoveOn has been labeled part of the radical left, not mainstream America.  MoveOn has endorsed Obama.  Soros endorses Obama.  If Obama is our candidate, we must prepare for the endless attacks the right will launch painting Obama as the most radical of liberals who is out of touch with mainstream America.  Obama's speech on race yesterday reinforced this, although I appplaud it.  Think of the line where Obama says Lewis is like family he can't disown.  Republicans will say: Is this the kind of family values we want?  Lewis' anti-white diatribe will follow in the republican spot, then it will ask Americans if Barack Obama's radicalism is right for America.  I am very worried, more now than ever.  Obama simply will nto be able to win the general election, even though he may well win the Democratic nomination, which would require him to resist resolving Florida and Michigan.  Ugh!

"Lewis"? As in Louis Farrakhan? Tammya, he didn't even mention Farrakhan, he was talking about Jeremiah Wright.

I happen to like George Soros a lot; he sponsored a scholarship program to let bright Eastern European high school kids do foreign exchange programs in the United States, which is how my family came to host a nice Kosovar Albanian girl for a year, spend time with her family in Pristina, and have her siblings come over for a summer. Wouldn't have been able to do that otherwise. Russia may not have recognized Kosovo's autonomy, but my Russian and Kosovar exchange students hit it off quite nicely. Maybe it's not a global paradigm shift, but it's a start.

Lennox Lewis? Jerry Lewis? Which Lewis are you talking about, tammy?

I like how the White Liberal Guilt affects those who look to slime Obama -- that Race Speech proved that he's a crazy radical liberal out of touch with mainstream America. But I applaud the speech!

But kudos for couching it in such concerned "Republicans were going to debate Hillary on the issues, but now they'll attack Obama" terms. And even threw in the Florida/Michigan stuff, to boot. Well done, all around.

Lay off the poor guy. It is an easy mistake to make. It does not detract from the validity of his comments.

I thought Soros also gave to Clinton, but maybe I'm confusing him with someone else.

Guys.  I incorrectly wrote Lewis when I menat Wright.  Oops.  Brain fart.  Hope that clears it up.  Point stands- Obama has enough personal baggage to attack politically.  That's the point, guys.  His campaign promised he was not the type.

Guys, I posted a note here earlier saying that I incorrectly wrote in Lewis when I meant Wright.  I had a brain fart.  Oops.  So, my point stands.

Tammy,

It's time for Dems to stop going all weak-kneed about potential Republican attacks and pre-emptively surrender.  But I suspect your concern may be an expression of Clinton support.  Perhaps not, but in any case, it's time to punch back when the GOP slime machine goes into action, not cower.

tammy,

You'll likely be receiving a bouquet of roses from Bill O'Reilly with a card reading "Thanks for your work in sliming George Soros."
