How much of this analysis is predicated on actual on the ground observations? How many Afghanistani people were interviewed to flesh out the empirical knowledge of events unfolding there right now? What background do you have regarding the historical events that have shaped the diverse views of differing secular, religious and tribal  factions in Afghanistan? How did you go about assessing the relationship between motivation, intention and behavior of some of the key players in the conflict?

I just want to be sure that your assay isn't based largely on reading what others have said about what still others have said about what Bush administration and military sources have told them.

I am concerned, in other words, that many of today's pundits [left, right and inbetween] offer evaluations of world events that are hinged almost entirely on a blizzard of words they read inside a blizzard of their own words.
