TNRtv: Roubini Predicts Deeper Recession

In an exclusive TNR interview, Nouriel Roubini, professor of economics at NYU's Stern School and chairman of Roubini Global Economics, argues that the worst is yet to come for the global economy. He foresees many more job losses in the U.S. and social upheaval abroad.

Boy TNR is on the cutting edge here.  Raoubini predicteds thsi recession 2 years ago and tried to warn a lot of folks about this.  That was about the same time we in Detroit saw the trouble brewing.

Now TNR has him after the cows are out of the barn and the barn is burning.

A little point here.  America and to some extent Europe may weather this storm a little bit better than Dr. Roubini's prediction.  Those economies have put aside a lot of money for social programs and insurance, and allow women to work at equivalent wages to men.  Two wage earner homes will be fundamentally better able to withstand a job loss with a 2nd income and the insurance programs in place.  Latin America, China and eastern european economies will not have these protections and will fall harder.  But the economists have not studied fairness and social protection as economic models that protest the economy.

Better late than never.
