Defining Superstar Down

“We’re bringing in all the superstars." -- Saxby Chambliss's campaign manager, Michelle Grasso, boasting of her candidate's plans to stump with Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and Rudy Giuliani in the Georgia Senate run-off. What, no Duncan Hunter?

If those folks are considered superstars, what does that make Obama, who has yet to indicate whether he'll campaign for Saxby's Democratic opponent, Jim Martin?

It is a testament to the situation the GOP finds itself in when four people who couldn't win an election this year and one who couldn't even find  the support to run are "superstars"

Georgia will stay red. Democrats simply are not going to be motivated enough to turn out, and Saxby was only 2/10ths away from avoiding the runoff. Obama should just avoid it and being that he has better things to do (like staffing our gov't) has good enough reason to stay away.

Obama doesn't have as much pull in this race anymore (I'm forgetting the politicking term, bootstraps or pursestrings or silly string or something), partly because the minority vote can't be expected to come out in quite the same droves. I would guess it's a long-shot for the Dems.

Can you honestly say that politically, these guys are not Republican superstars?

Sarah Palin, the maverick governor of Alaska, near-savior of the McCain campaign and 2012 savior of our party.

Mitt Romney, iron-haired savior of the Salt Lake City Olympics and famed business mogul. A man you should be grateful to have in your corner in these economically troubled times.

Mike Huckabee, victor of the Iowa caucuses and possibly the funniest and most good-natured Presidential candidate of '08.

Newt Gingrich, the man who assembled a revolution and stood against the Great Satan of our age.

And Rudy, America's mayor. Find me four other letters that will as readily summon the image of a hero the world over, and then we'll talk.

(All characterizations are stated from the perspective of a crazed wingnut, and should not be confused with Janus' actual political views.)

Low-fat peanut butter. Knee-length skirt. Partly cloudy skies. The WB. A regular hamburger, small fries, and milk at McDonalds. Placing #873 out of 1165 at a charity 5K run. A used Fender P-copy from some guy on Craigslist.

Graduated in five years from the local state college with a C+ average. Dated an indifferent gal in remedial English for a few weeks, until she broke it off.

Inner office (no window) next to the mail room on the seventh floor of a 50-story building. Overhead fluorescent tubes blink intermittently.

1998 Ford Taurus--needs windshield, starter, tires. Possible transmission leak. Some rust. Best offer.

Republican superstar!

Where are those economic superstars, Dick Armey and Phil Gramm?

And since this about Georgia, why not include the new Distinguised Univerity Professor of Economics at Mercer University, the inimitable Arthur B. Laffer?

I was surprised by the tight race in Georgia. Why is it that Chambliss lost so much support. Did he return home fewer times than Liddy Dole?

Please send me some links that explain the cause of Saxby (my bad knees prevented me from serving in the 'Nam--well they got better after '75) Chamblisses travails.
