How Far Has Bill Clinton Fallen?

Ta-Nehisi Coates, reflecting on some of the ugliness coming from the McCain-Palin campaign of late, writes:

Say it with me children--They are who we thought they were. And as they get closer to the end of a noxious chapter on our history, they show themselves to be the same cowards they were in Philadelphia in 80, with Willie Horton in 88, with hands in 90, with Sista Souljah in 92, with McCain's love-child in 2000.

There's one very notable thing about that list: Joining Reagan (Philadelphia), Atwater (Horton), Helms (hands), and Rove (McCain's love-child) in this rogue's gallery is none other than Bill Clinton (Sista Souljah). That's some bad company for the man who was once our first black president.

I don't think it's fair to put Clinton in this category for criticizing Sista Souljah.  Fair would be putting Clinton in this category for executing Ricky Ray Rector.

Bill lost me this year, and I was a huge fan.  He should have stayed home.

Extraordinary.

Not one post on Bill's responsibility for Glass Seagall. Instead he's fallen because he doesn't love Obama enough.

Bill couldn't do anything about Glass-Steagall; it was veto-proof.

How laughable! Bill Clinton was elected president of the United States twice with about 90 percent of the black vote, and he's supposed to have "fallen" because of a blog post written by an obscure imbecile? A little history, my boy: Liberals have been whining about the Sister Souljah attack since '92, and they are just as irrelevant now as they were then. Obama's smart enough to have Clinton out on the campaign trail for him right now; that's why blacks like him can become president and blacks like Tata-Jeezy (I can't be bothered to check the spelling) cannot.
