I wonder what is the size of the slice of "efficiencies and waste" in Federal Government agencies that the Palin wants to find and zap.
As soon as she said that, it reminded me of the vapid James Hacker in "Yes, Prime Minister." With POWPOW we will get Hacker-in-dementia.
"If the federal budget were a pizza, eliminating earmarks would be the equivalent of removing a single piece of pepperoni. John McCain calls that a diet."
Offered free of charge to any candidate who wants to use it in a debate or TV ad.
Well, we Democrats like to say Social Security is off limits. Is SS in that pie? What about interest payments on the national debt?
Obama is on the right track saying that he'll bring the troops home. Will that result on a peace dividend (or in terms of the pie, a "piece dividend")?
Christopher Orr,
I recommend that you create another pie showing the percentage of time devoted to earmarks in the first presidential debate. There'd be a lot more red in it.
hah! what sdcrippen said. HAH!
Obama should have said, "Senator, talking about cutting earmarks is like talking about a family of four that makes $50,000 a year deciding not to buy popcorn at the movies one time in the course of the whole year, and calling that budget reform. Ask any family of four: is that enough? Will that really help you make ends meet? So let's move on. Let's talk about real problems facing our country."
FINALLY, someone shows how much $$ is in earmarks. It's the husks of peanuts, not even peanuts. When McCain said that DoD, entitlement and VA benes are off limits, that accounted for, what 85% of the budget? What does he intend to do, abolish everything else?
