A McCain Media Avail!

Well, not really. He hasn't had one of those in a month. But McCain did do a satellite interview yesterday with Maine's WCSH TV, and Rob Caldwell asked some pretty tough questions.

Is it just me, or does McCain not have terribly good answers to these questions?

I've never heard of this local newsman, but, sadly, he's much better than most of the guys on the major news networks. Does CNN have an hour a week for this Caldwell?

Has anyone mentioned that McCain seems to have won Drudge over?  Or maybe Obama just had him because he hates the Clintons so much.

Is it just me, or does it look like, any second, the McCain mannequin's head is going to fall off and several dozen oily green snakes are going to pour out of the hole in the top of his neck?

Somebody needs to get proactive on this. A little duct tape around the inside of the shirt collar should do the trick.

This local newsman makes the kings of cable look like PR flacks and former campaign operatives. Of course, most of them are PR flacks and former campaign operatives posing as journalists.

I don't think Obama has to get angry - Crowley's right. All he has to do is this:

1) Watch the movie "A Few Good Men"

2) Practice the debates with Jack Nicholson playing the role of McCain

3) Be smart and sharp at the real debate and get McCain to explode

I say this because I saw flashes of anger in McCain's comments about Obama. Almost a sneer here and there. I think it would be great if Obama got McCain to lose it in a debate. It would get the country thinking about whether McCain really has the temperament to be president.

Holy old man!

He looks about 1000 years old.

Doesn't McSame look like an old man who has trouble remembering when to take his medications?  My mother-in-law is 87 and can't believe anyone would seriously consider him for four years as President.  "He's too old, and got one foot in the hole!"  Not only that, but who will Palin be talking to?  Regular folks?  Reporters?  Anyone wanting to ask a serious question?  Seriously doubt that!  It'll be a few radical conservative Christians who think just like her.

Q: What experience does Palin have on foreign policy issues?

A: Domestic oil needs is a foreign policy issue.

William Y - I was thinking more along the lines of Men in Black.  Like, his head will open and a little green man will be standing in there, the King of planet Norp in his earthly disguise.

By that definition, domestic financial stability is a foreign policy issue.  Do we want a president who didn't know that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were not government agencies?

Meanwhile, meet Sarah Palin, slavic expert . . .

More seriously, McCain looks awful.  This is almost as bad as his convention speech.  Am I missing something here?  What's the attraction?  Does this formaldehyde-speak somehow appear more "authentic" to the average voter?  'Cause if this is not an act, the debates are going to be, um, interesting.

And yes, get this guy on the debate panel.  He deserves a promotion.

The "bigtime" journalists should watch and learn.  Tough questions but also sticking on issues.  No bullshit about lipstick, moose, teen pregnancy, etc.  Maybe the fact that this guy didn't get wined and dined at Sedona kept him honest?

timteeter, I was re-stating the absurdity of McCain's claim out of disbelief. Of course someone who didn't know that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were private companies is dangerous to American security.

Not convincing, but that seems not to matter very much to most people.

When was Palin right about Russia? Has she actually said anything about Russia? Maybe in her speech?

How many #1 issues are there?

She does know about energy but that is really a comical statement.

Does anyone else recall a Presidential candidate talking this way about his running mate?  If I were from another planet and saw this video of McCain, I would have thought Palin was running for President.

Hehe, what I find most amusing about this is McCain's obvious "elitism" in allowing himself to be interviewed only by this small-time, local journo.  McCain assumed he could overawe this bumpkin and that all he'd get were a bunch of softball questions.

Uggh.  I went into this election liking McCain.  I never wanted him to win, but from what I knew about him I liked him.  Now I think he's a POS.

How many days has it been since the RNC? Whatever, the cumulative effect of McCain- and Palin-speak is doing weird things in my head.  In the left hemisphere analytic and synthesis processing are cycling in opposition to one another, while in the right hemisphere discriminative function and word recognition have diminished 80%. (Or is it the other way around?!?)

Why is this guy stuck up in Maine somewhere?  Or did he refuse the ritual MSM hazing of ass-to-nose grindstoning?  Seriously, those were the best, most focused and determined questions I've seen anyone ask a politician in years...

Senator Obama has never taken on his own party?  I guess taking on the very popular, and almost anointed by accolade for presidential nominee,  Senator Clinton in the primaries doesn't count.  And besides Senator McCain, you gave all that away when you courted your base to be the Republican nominee.

Great interviewer and questions too.  McCain looked and sounded awful.  How disappointing.  Too bad Gov. Palin wasn't there to hold his head and move his mouth.
