Even the Weather Is Biased Against McCain!

It's not just the press that loves Obama, Mother Nature does, too. Jonathan Martin reported that the McCain campaign would "counterprogram" Obama's big Berlin speech tomorrow by having their guy helicopter from New Orleans to an oil rig off the Gulf Coast and give a speech on off-shore drilling. At last, McCain would have a visual to compete with Obama's. But then along came Hurricane Dolly, and now it looks like the event is off. Meanwhile, Karen Tumulty reported that the weather that greeted Obama in Israel today was "as close to perfect as it is possible to be on this planet." I think I know the theme song for the McCain campaign's next whiny web video:

Update: Of course, weather might not have been the only reason McCain called off his oil rig visit.

Can we expect a post from teppy tweaking God's gullible nose for eschewing his usually unerring reality based nimbus and mindlessly supporting Obama?

We expect more from God, I can almost hear teppy moaning...

Well, jaunty, which God is it? The hawkish, rock-star God who only speaks to kings to harden their hearts and destroy their nations, the God who commands his chosen tribe to commit genocide and punishes them when they leave a few survivors? Or the dovish, moderate God who redeems the life of any individual who seeks him with an open heart and who shares his grace and mercy with all the nations? Clearly, God is just another BS artist who will do or say anything to anyone to get his way. The fact that so many people with slightly differing opinions and priorities worship God just shows what a slippery, two-faced con who can't be trusted.

Therefore, even though he actually agrees with God on most issues, tep will be worshipping Baal or Moloch from here on out.

Its no big deal; after 5 minutes of listening to McCain seethe about Media Bias driving up fuel prices because Obama is running a week-long photo-op in Europe, everyone will find something else to cover.

Have you ever watched a really bad NFL game, and some time during the third quarter the station flips over to the more exciting AFL game? Its like that...

Me, I go with Ahura Mazda, who invented good and evil, and heaven and hell, in the first place, and who's had only one face in 3000 years.  None of this Semitic flip-flopping (if you think the Old/New Testament is incoherent, you should check out the Koran - Allah starts as a maverick and then becomes establishment, first disses fundamentalist and calls for bipartisanship, but then joins forces against the "Other" - kinda like JMC ...).

Aw, poor McCain -- after all his whining about the press, the press has decided to make his whining legit by mocking both the whining and all the faux pas/gaffes/flip flops he's lucky they'd been ignoring.

And now even G-d's in on the joke. I guess even G-d's not as patriotic as McCain.

Meanwhile, it's a good thing the EJ song wasn't "Candle In The Wind," because I brought my hoe to work with me today, just in case a copperhead lodged under the laser printer, and that song would have sent me screaming down the corridor whacking every face I saw into a bloody pulp.

Every now and then G-d plays the weather card... he did so in Barak (no joke) and Devorah's Battle with Sisera in the Book of Judges, twice in Russia during WWII and in the Napoleonic Wars, and may have played a decisive element in Washington's suprise attack of the Hessian's during a dreadful snowstorm. www.weatherbook.com/early.html

Rhub - the two faces of G-d you mentioned are of course a reflection of our own better and worse natures... but you probably knew that.  You're joke does beg the question - would G-d be able to win an election in this country?  What "scandals" and "flip-flops" would the Press dig up?  Forgiving the Jewish People after the Golden Calf?  Deciding to destroy the world in a flood just 10 (admittedly long) generations after creating it?   Who would be G-d's running mate?  Moses?  Jesus?  Or maybe Abraham who has cross-demographic appeal to Jews, Christians AND Muslims?  But Hillary supporters would never flock to such an "All-Male" ticket, so perhaps G-d should invoke the Feminine aspect of Divinity and run as Goddess and Abraham?

Aye, there's the Rhub.

And another thing: good to see the virginiacentrist hereabouts.

And another: I've felt for some time that the media just fawn all over God. As if the Guy's head isn't inflated enough as it is. But you'll never hear a word of criticism. What's everybody afraid of? It's not as if you point out a few examples of Divine Underachievement (e.g., smegma, Bud Selig, the Second Law of Thermodynamics) and suddenly a bolt of lightni

Wow! What happened? Man, where did this migraine come from?

Jaunty, I was praying recently and, lo and behold, God answered me. It went something like this:

williamyard: So, you're looking good. Been working out?

God: Cut the crap. What do you want?

williamyard: Well, now that you bring it up...you think you can convince my boss my bonus last year really sucked for someone with my communications and interpersonal skills, not to mention humility?

God: Don't push it. I'll see what I can do.

williamyard: Say what? "See what I can do"? You're God! Just do it!

God: Hey, I got no problem with it. But I still have to run it by teppy...

[rimshot!]

[assembled Plankton burst into applause!]

Thank you, thankyouverymuch! Yer too kind!...Try the loaves and fishes!...

I think the weather is doing McCain a favor. His flying out to the rig was not going to upstage Obama's Berlin speech.  The only thing that can upstage that is Obama making a major gaffe.

The best counter-programming to a Friends Reunion is re-runs.  McCain might as well lay low and let the Media get Obama Does Europe out of their system.
