The "Very Fussy" NYT

Bill Richardson, whose name seems oddly absent from the frenzied veep speculation of the past two months, is back on the scene, telling John McCain to quit whining:

"Well, look, The New York Times is very fussy. I mean, I've sent many editorials that they've rejected--in fact, most of them," Richardson said.

And let's not even get started on how many op-eds they've rejected from the likes of Mike Gravel and Duncan Hunter!

I can attest to the fact that the New York Times editorial page is very fussy. I've sent them several dozen op-eds arguing for the legalization of relations between underage and adult males, and they've rejected -- get this -- every single one of them! And only after _extensive_ editing did they print my essay on the humor of Christopher Reeve jokes. Yet they print Ted Kaczinski without hesitation. Go figure.

Richardson has a point, but seriously, does Bill Richardson really have the standing to make this argument? It's not like he was ever known for his verbal locution. Also, he never submitted an editorial as the presumptive nominee of one of the major political parties.

I agree with the NYT that McCain's piece should have had more substance and less, um, whining. That said, Andrew Rosenthal, the opinion page editor, should have taken it anyway. One more opportunity to demonstrate the *tremendous lack of knowledge* and *unfitness to govern* of the Republican presumptive nominee for POTUS.

Gravel and Hunter rejections are fine, but how about they start rejecting some of Kristol's offerings?

Enough about the Times.  My question is why Richardson is styling himself like this guy:

I'm calling bullshit on the liberal media bias, jwl.  Did you read McCain's article?  They did him a fucking favor not printing that.  Also: tell me what you have hear about Charlie "Burma" Black, and what you have heard about Jeremiah Wright, and then get back to me on your media bias.

The media sucks.  They want sensational stories.
