Barkley on Obama's Win--and Obama's Speech

Obama looks and sounds the best he has since the Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner. The crowd has him pumped up and he sounds extremely passionate.

Update: TNR friend Charles Barkley writes to say that Obama winning Iowa is a "great start" and he hopes it leads to Obama "winning it all." And who wants to argue with Sir Charles?

That speech was amazing. If everyone in New Hampshire watches it, the primary won't be close.

Good God, I got goosebumps watching that speech. His oratory reached MLK heights a couple times there. I thought it was also interesting how he didn't shy away from national security and dealt with 9/11 head on. Smart move, given that he faces a real possibility of a McCain nomination.

Isaac, what, Barkley has his own special email account with you people?

Obama and Huckabee both gave fantastic speeches. Both totally different, both very effective, both will be remembered (although I will admit, Huckabees will only be remembered if he wins the Presidency, Obamas was a true milestone in American history)

Think of it, a black man taking nearly 40% in lily white Iowa. Amazing. People have been busting on the caucus system here for weeks, not me, not any longer.

Give him his due. Good speech, great campaign. Better to get this thing settled early and then unite around a strong candidate.

Unity ticket. Sweep the independents, win by a landslide. Obama in 2008.

Edwards' speech was a disaster. an absolute nightmare. The guy completely missed the message tonight, which was that people want hope. They want unity, and they want solutions. The message of Edwards' angry rants seems to be that working class people are pathetic and small, and that they need John Edwards' help to get our of their hopelessly pathetic lives...

As I sat in a crowded room with tons of undecided dems and a couple of Obama supporters, we entertained ourselves by throwing crumbled pieces of paper at Edwards' head on the TV every time he said "corporate greed" or just seemed swarmy...

I agree with VA that teh more you see of Edwards, the less impressed you are with what are supposed to be his signal strengths: his rhetorical and debating/thinking on his feet ability.

Here's hoping that Edwards' political career is finished and that he can go back to shilling for hedge hogs.

Obama's speech was incredible.  It brought the one Hillary supporter in my caucus party fully around to him.  I wish Biden had done better, but other than that I couldn't be happier.  Edwards is going nowhere.   That was a beautiful night.

Man, He's so dreamy! I just wanted to say, if you want, you can have me...

I guess I'm the only one here that doesn't buy the load of crap about him being the savior of Rome.
