Quick Debate Round-Up

The worst debate of the campaign--by far. The questions were boring, the candidates did not have enough time to answer, and Keyes was allowed to be bullying and obnoxious. More substantively, Romney and Huckabee both did very well (the Fox focus group, for what it's worth, overwhelmingly liked Romney), while McCain and particularly Giuliani seemed almost invisible. Thompson had some good lines, but isn't going anywhere. In short, not much of a debate, and probably not very significant.

Why the hell was Alan Keyes invited to this? Until about ten minutes ago I didn't even know he was running for President. Is Lyndon LaRouche invited to the next Democratic debate?

This is so odd. Are the Republican's so dissatisfied with their candidates that Alan Keyes is even being given a look. Alan Keyes?

And the winner is... Obama. Because Iowans will no doubt hear about the snoozer of a GOP debate today and tune out tomorrow for the Dem's version, when Hillary has one last chance to publicly humiliate her rival. Even if she succeeds, will anyone be watching?

Romney was good.... and I really really dislike Romney. But his 'ya' know, I actually don't spend a whole of time worrying about taxes rich people pay...' actually came off to me as warm, decent, and wait for it... authentic.

He's still a tool though.

Nothing will un-tool Romney, but his tax line there sounded surprisingly and welcomingly mainstream. Then again, it would be interesting to see if he matched that remark with a tax plan that didn't include more tax cuts for the rich.

Okay, okay. So it was a completely lame debate: Another inexplicable decision to take meaty topics off

When did they let Alan Keyes out of the insane asylum? And when did he decide to run for president? Didn't he get the message back in 2004?
