Thompson

Thompson's video, which consisted of clips from previous Romney and Huckabee speeches (where the candidates, respectively, spoke positively about abortion rights and tax increases), was very good (although Romney had a nice response). When Anderson Cooper went back to Thompson, he had a funny line ready ("I am just trying to give my opponents some more air time"), but then stumbled. He continues to look uninterested, unexcited, and frankly bored by the whole process. It's very bizarre. The man could have had a good shot at the presidency, but is unable to muster any enthusiasm about the possibility of being the most powerful man on Earth. Weird.

You ever had two kids under three?  President is nothing - now, an hour's sleep? Now we're talking. An hour alone?  THAT is worth something.  The most powerful position on earth? Eah.

I don't know.  I've been a little more impressed with Fred this debate.   He's gotten off some good lines.  I liked the contempt in his voice when ripping on Grover.  Not Presidential, but I like him a little bit more.

"Weird"

Not so wierd. He's, hype aside, simply a lousy candidiate at this level of politics. Sorta' like Gore and Kerry, if you ask me.

Gore and Kerry were bad campaigners, but they did not stutter and mumble nearly as much as Thompson does.

(Not knocking people with speech problems -- it's just one of the criteria for determining who is "presidential.")

As boneill said, Fred wasn't really bad, but his improved performance was pretty much eclipsed by the acuity and much higher energy level of Huckabee and Giuliani.

respectfully, don't agree. in my books he was really bad, and not made to look bad by Huck's really good performance, although I maintain the latter for all his buzz is ultmately going nowhere. we'll see,as the blind man said.
