We Only Smoke Domestic

Via KAL, who draws cartoons for the Economist, this gem:

Now, I think it's fair to say that eagle is a ringer for John McCain. And, while this week, if any, is appropriate to close with speculative interpretation and baseless analogy based on caricature, I'm not sure how to read this one. McCain = bald eagle = victim = patriot = smoker = Obama? A tangled web, to say the least.

Oh, and India and China aren't quitting anytime soon.

Dead ringer for McCain?  Seriously?  Not to my eye.  Sometimes an eagle is just an eagle.

If the eagle was wearing a baseball cap, I might be able to recognize him.

I totally believe McCain on this one.

A government effort to reduce the carbon dioxide content of the atmosphere would give the State leeway into every single component of our lives as human beings, after all, we emit carbon dioxide when we breathe or engage in any technological activity involving combustion at any point.

The implications for expanded presidential authority are staggering. Let me make a wild guess and imagine that regulations will be involved in this solution. If so, then the president would have regulatory authority over literally any economic activity allowing a truly unitary executive above and beyond the Constitution.

That is why I believe the wannabe Caeser is supporting this madness, this very symbol of everything that is wrong with institutional command of science of the entrenched establishment scientists versus skeptics with fresh ideas. Here McCain would be the most amazing maverick as he could stand side by side with Galileo and tell the churchmen that the earth revolves around the sun (as apparently according to global warming theory, the atmospheric insulation is dominant over the heating source). But not, the real man comes out of the opportunity.
